Patching

Had a productive weekend away - was up at the Millay Colony for the Arts near Hudson, NY.   It was great to be without internet for a few days.

I spent most of last Saturday getting the Patcher functional.  It's one of those problems that seems like it should be easy, as node-and-wire interfaces are really common.  But once you're coding without internet, it doesn't matter how many times a problem has been solved by other people.

I think the patcher is working pretty ok!  It has a couple of bugs, I think I need to streamline a few state things with connecting one thing to another, but I'm already full of ideas on how to make this more interesting.  The first few patches that you can make don't change the game too much; I'd like to include options for changing snake food types (thus changing timbre), and attaching notes to snake movement, so it can go on autopilot.

The next big change is getting in the Seedlings - this is the third and (for now) final organism, modeled off of Bird of Paradise Plants.

I got some basic control working with the leaves, but no functionality or music making yet.

I hear these manifesting as synth pads - slow evolving notes.  You grow them with a combination of sunlight and water, which you control with leaves on either side of the seed bed.  If they get too much water or sun, they stop growing and wither.

That's all for now!  This next week I'm going to focus on getting the seedling functional, then move onto evolving the visuals and audio, starting with the UI
