Slow Goings

Didn't make build for this week :(  I've been feeling the mid-winter ennui, started a new freelance project in earnest, and also needed to get a lot of administrative stuff done for my class at NYU.  It's not a great excuse - even if the gains are small, I want to be posting a new build.  I care about my little noise-beings, and want to see them thrive.

Going forward, here's what I'd like to try in order to keep up the momentum:

  • Make small but visible/audible changes early in the week, and make a backup build then.  That way I can concentrate on the larger feature improvements throughout the week, but am not held up by them.
  • Break up work into 15 minute chunks.  If I have enough 15 minute tasks on my JIRA or Trello that I can quickly take care of, then I'm more likely to work at a daily clip without getting lost in refactor-land.  Plus it will keep me on a more daily schedule.

What happened this week was I found myself knee-deep in figuring out the Patcher view, so you can connect different organisms together.  It feels like it's close, but it's a whole system that requires alterations in a number of scripts.  I did a considerable amount of work, but not quite enough for it to run.

As long as this keeps growing, slowly but surely, I'm happy 🌱🌲
